OTHER YOGA CLASSES may be available. Please contact us for further details.
WORKSHOPS FOR PEOPLE ALREADY PRACTICING YOGA
Workshops (3 hours) enable you to: a) deepen your understanding of postures and breathing techniques, and adjust the way you practice them to suit your objectives; b) respond to specific needs that arise as your needs evolve; c) acquire and consolidate tools that facilitate personal practice at home.
Examples of workshop themes: MUSCULOSKELETAL AND NERVOUS: mastering postures that: open the hips; strengthen the back and shoulders; sharpen the sense of balance, etc. CHAKRAS: postures that stimulate the energy flow through one (or more) chakras. PRANAYAMA: the practice of breathing processes (calming, energizing, or balancing); criteria for deciding on their duration; tools to establish the sequence of the techniques during a breathing practice; KATASANA: It is a workshop that comprises three parts: yoga postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and exercises derived from a martial art such as karate. The three parts complement each other, according to the theme of the katasana (e.g., aiming for calmness during action; obtaining energetic balance; increasing energy level). Other workshop topics, according to specific requests.
Location: Shōten Dojo, by invitation (Miguasha, municipality of Nouvelle, Québec). Other locations are available on request. Workshops can be held virtually.
YOGA WORKSHOPS FOR MARTIAL ARTISTS
Introductory workshops: a 3-hour practice that provides a concrete introduction to the benefits of yoga for martial artists at the musculoskeletal, nervous, respiratory, and energy regulation levels.
Developmental workshops: these 3-hour practices aim to acquire postures and breathing techniques that meet the specific needs of participants. For example, a developmental workshop may focus on: opening the hips; strength and flexibility of the back or shoulders; reinforcing the sense of anchoring and balance in a stressful situation; physical and mental relaxation in an unfamiliar context; the needs of “older” karatekas, etc.
The workshops are also designed to help participants realize that the practice of yoga facilitates more complete self-acceptance and access to inner peace, thus joining “the way” (Do) on which certain martial artists walk.
Location: Shōten Dojo, by invitation and for small groups (Miguasha, Nouvelle, Québec) or elsewhere in the area.
